Bugzilla – Bug 958
Connedting to SlimServer... stays on forever
Last modified: 2008-12-18 11:37:01 UTC
SB2 wired to network. If I disconnect the ethernet cable, the 'Connecting to SlimServer...' message shows for a short while and then the display goes dark. Looks fine. If I then reconnect the cable and press a button on the remote, SB2 reconnects. Looks ok to me too. But if I just stop SlimServer the 'Connecting to SlimServer...' message stays on forever or at least until I restart SlimServer. Revision: 2347
Fixed for tonight's nightly build. Please confirm.
Sorry to tell you it's not fixed, at least not in my setup. I'm on revision 2692 and the firmware that came with it. SlimServer runs on Linux. Whenever I kill SlimServer the 'Connecting to SlimServer...' message will show up and stay.
Also, if SB2 is playing when SlimServer gets killed the current song plays out, while the message states: Connecting to SlimServer...
I believe the playout is by design. There was a change last night so that players are unconditionally stopped on reconnecting.
fixed for next nightly. The song playing out behavior is correct, because it may be that the server is only temporarily out of touch.
There's a small problem that we'll get for 6.01: 1) SlimServer disconnects and display "Connecting to SlimServer..." 2) After 10 seconds display blanks out. 3) SS restarts and reconnects - everything's good so far. 4) SS disconnects again and the display goes straight to blank rather than displaying the "Connecting to SlimServer..." message.
Fix checked in to IP3k trunk.
