Description Tho Nguyen 2008-09-17 19:58:37 UTC
Updated to SC 7.2 and now the SB Duet controller hang at choosing player.

Hardware:
- WEP wireless network using Actiontec MI424WR
- WPA2 wireless network using D-Link 655.
- ReadyNAS with latest firmware (4.1.3) and SC 7.2.
- SB Duet
- SB Boom

My situation:
- Upgraded SC on ReadyNAS (included in new ReadyNAS 4.1.3 firmware). Rescan music library. After that:
- SB Boom (wireless) has been working perfectly with either of wireless networks (after initial problem after upgrading, thanks for the helps from this forum).
- SB Duet (wireless) can only work through SC on PC (Vista, wireless controlled). SB controller cannot choose player (the round white icon keeps circling endlessly), despite of connecting good to either of wireless networks. Tried power OFF/ON, hard REBOOT (remove then replace battery?) without result. Sometimes, there appeared the announcement to update SB controller. When go to Software Update, sometimes it says "updated", sometimes it requires updating but fail to do so.

please leave severity, target milestone and priority at default settings for new reports. These values will be assigned after review.

I'll add a few notes to this, as I have experienced some similar behavior.

Setup
- SC 7.2 on a Linux box
- Receiver is wired
- Linksys WRT54GL running Talisman/Mesh V1.3.5

Symptom: I was able to play music through the Receiver from SC, but the Controller just refused to detect a player. The Controller was connected to the wireless network, and all my other wireless devices were working fine, including my ipod Touch.

Since I could play music through SC, I assumed it was a Controller or wireless network issue. I power cycled the wireless router, power cycled the Controller, did a hard reset of the Controller, and recycled SC. Still nothing! I power cycled the Receiver (which is wired AND was able to play music through SC). In fact, at the time I cycled power on the Receiver, it was actually playing music! After that, the Controller immediately detected the Player, and everything was back to normal.

Andy notes Jive finds all the local servers and asks them about what players they have. QA to try to reproduce.

Possible fix in SqueezeCenter 7.2.1 and Controller firmware r3191 or higher, please retest tomorrow.
Comment 5 Ross Levine 2008-11-03 16:03:16 UTC
Anyone still seeing this since the r3191 update?
Comment 6 Ross Levine 2008-11-10 18:49:50 UTC
If anyone sees this again please re-open with details. I feel r3191 and prior fixes resolve this.
