Description Dan Evans 2008-09-15 18:08:46 UTC
(support ticket# 080827-000737)

Customer is having trouble scanning/seeing his music. If he installs SqueezeCenter then the scan runs successfully and finds all his music. He can use his Duet and play any music in his library.

Later, if he restarts his system, his music disappears. If he rescans, the scan fails. Log is attached.

Could we please have a bit more of that log, and server.log, too? What SC version? AV scanners? Service or app?
Comment 3 KDF 2008-09-16 10:12:43 UTC
see bug 4803 (attached logs are a match)
Comment 4 Michael Herger 2008-09-16 23:21:08 UTC
thanks Kevin

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 4803 ***
Comment 5 Dan Evans 2008-09-17 08:55:17 UTC
I'm not sure this is a dupe. They appear different at least based on the descriptions. Also, I don't think this customer is using FLAC files. I'll find out more.
Comment 6 Jim McAtee 2008-09-17 13:11:50 UTC
I don't think it's necessarily a dupe either, and may not even be related. The failure is with the same INSERT statement to the tracks table, and both errors mention the rating column, but this one is

DBD::mysql::st execute failed: Unknown column 'rating' in 'field list'

while bug 4803 is clearly a problem trying to save a value that's unfit for the column's data type.

I doubt that whether the file(s) being Flac or not has much bearing on either bug. Any time the scanner encounters something that it considers a rating tag, whatever the file format, it's going to try to save the value in the rating column of the tracks table.
Comment 7 Dan Evans 2008-09-17 13:32:20 UTC
This customer is using only MP3 files. I don't think this is a dupe of bug 4803. Reopening.
Comment 8 Chris Owens 2008-09-22 10:30:54 UTC
Dan can you see if you can get a more complete log, see if you can tell what track is causing the crash, and get that track from the customer?
Comment 9 Dan Evans 2008-09-22 13:20:18 UTC
I have sent a request to re-try the log to the customer above. I requested a scanner log with scan, scan.import, scan.scanner set to Debug taken after he restarts his computer, which is when it seems to fail.

Comment 11 Chris Owens 2008-09-29 09:32:25 UTC
There seems to be something odd going on in the log. Andy notes it's like SQL is being generated by a version other than what seems to be installed. Are there two installations of SC active on this machine? Can you work with the customer to really scrub the system and re-install?
Comment 12 Dan Evans 2008-10-01 15:03:54 UTC
We already fully uninstalled his software, deleted everything and reinstalled.

Kjetil-- can you comment here on your computer system and whether there's multiple installations of MySQL?
Comment 13 Kjetil Larsen 2008-10-02 01:55:59 UTC
Daniel,

I don't think I have other MySQL installed.

A short summary of my problem is:
My first version of SqueezeCenter was 7.0. Then everything was working ok, but as soon as I upgraded to SqueezeCenter 7.1 and later 7.2 the problem started.

The only programmes (I think) I have installed between v7.0 and v7.1 are Mp3-tag and Mediamonkey. I am not sure if these two programmes use MySQL...

Kjetil - I assume you're using a localized Windows version? What's the path displayed in Settings/status for cache and prefs? This remotely remembers me of another issue we have with a Czech system due to localized file paths in Vista.
Comment 15 Kjetil Larsen 2008-10-08 08:48:58 UTC
The patch is :
C:\ProgramData\SqueezeCenter

kjetil

Please try 7.2.1 and let us know if you still see the issue.
Comment 17 Kjetil Larsen 2008-11-15 09:23:00 UTC
I have tried 7.2.1 and have still the problem.

Kjatil: In SC > Settings > Advanced > Logs, please change the logging set to "Music Scanner". Make sure to put a check mark in the box that states "Save logging settings"

Then close SqueezeCenter, locate your log folder at;
 C:\ProgramData\SqueezeCenter\logs
Delete the files that are there
Next, start SqueezeCenter
Then do another Clear library and rescan everything
Once it is done, verify that your library is visible in the Web UI and on the Player UI
After you have verified it, shut SqueezeCenter down.
Reboot your system
Start SqueezeCenter and verify your Library is empty.

After all of that, please attach your logs from C:\ProgramData\SqueezeCenter\logs\*.* to this bug report

Kjatil:

Have you tried SC 7.3.2 yet?

Do you still experience this issue?

Have you been able to create the Logs requested?

Comment 20 Kjetil Larsen 2009-01-28 00:51:10 UTC
Hi

I have not tested the SC 7.3.2 version yet or any made logs. The Squeezebox Duet has been disconnected and I have not tried to test it again.

Last time I tried the Squeesebox I got another problem, the receiver was not ble to aconnect to the Controller, Pc and Router. My wireless router (D-link Dir-655)gave me this message when I tried to connect it : Wireless system with MAC address 0004201A7845 disconnected for reason: Received Deauthentication.

I also tried to connect it by ethernet cable but the router gave me the same answer. Tried to restart/restet the router, controller etc. but is still did not work.

Nope. I've tested the DIR 655 extensively and never seen this.

Kjetil, what firmware do you have on your router? Were you able to successfully factory reset it? Are you using MAC address filtering?
Comment 23 Kjetil Larsen 2009-01-29 00:46:49 UTC
I am using 1.21EU firmware and I am not using MAC filter.

It seems like the Receiver is not able to connect to the Router. The receiver never passes the red lights....But the controller is able to connect to the Router.
Comment 24 Ross Levine 2009-02-02 13:12:16 UTC
I hate to digress since the issue you're seeing doesn't relate to this bug, it sounds like either another bug or a potential support issue. Are you factory resetting the Receiver when you try to connect it to your router? Can you confirm that you were able to factory reset the router and still reproduce this?
Comment 25 Ross Levine 2009-05-14 18:44:59 UTC
Comment #23 makes me feel like 7.3.3 Controller firmware will help. Could you please update to 7.3.3 nightly and let us know if your experience is better or worse?

Too silent for too long, if anyone is still seeing this please share in this bug and we'll re-open.
