Bugzilla – Bug 9494
Play Next is not an option for podcasts
Last modified: 2008-10-10 15:26:02 UTC
Can we please have "play Next" as an option for podcast episodes from the remote control and web interface?
can you explain in greater detail exactly the behavior you are looking for? can't you archive the same by adding pod casts to a playlist?
I have a long playlist that I don't want to disrupt. But there is a podcast that I want to listen to now. I browse to the podcast and select the episode I want to hear. I press and hold "Add," which normally would insert the item to the playlist as next to play. But for Podcasts it does nothing. Also, in the WebUI, most playable items have Play, Add, and Play Next buttons. Podcasts only have Play and Add buttons. Play will wipe out my existing play list. Add is not suitable to hear something now when I have a long playlist that I don't want to disrupt. In summary, there is no way to play a podcast episode immediately without wiping out an existing playlist.
Now that I have a Controller, I see there is no Play Next option for podcasts on the Controller menus either, so I would like to see this added there as well.

Bug 9649 was marked as a duplicate of this bug, and maybe it is, but what I'm looking for is slightly different - I simply want to play all of the songs in a podcast. Here's the support e-mail I sent in - I'm not sure that it's completely the same - but maybe I'm just misunderstanding it --- First, I added http://feeds.feedburner.com/StereogumMP3Feed (http://feeds.feedburner.com/StereogumMP3Feed) as a Podcast in the server settings Podcast tab. The podcast shows up, but as I described, I can find no good way to play all of the songs in the list. I have a squeezebox 3, and I can see the podcast in the extra..podcast menu - but can't figure out how to play all of the songs in it. I can look at all of the songs, and play them individually, but if I am looking at 'Stereogum mp3 feed' and hit the 'play' button on the squeezebox remote, it doesn't play, and I get the errors in the log below. I tried putting that URL into the 'Tune in URL' in Squeezecenter and got the same error. The only way I can see how to play this is using Squeezecenter from the web browser (not using the squeezebox and remote), there is an 'All Songs' option that doesn't appear on the squeezebox - and hitting 'play' on that seems to work. What I'm looking for is simply that - how to play all songs in a podcast (in the form of the XML/RSS feed) - and I'm pretty sure 6.5 supported it - and I lost it when I upgraded to 7. ---
