Bugzilla – Bug 9443
Gap between songs with 7.2 & Apple Lossless
Last modified: 2012-02-27 17:33:13 UTC
small gap when skip to next/previous song. can hear a tiny "pop". can see that my amp don't receive the signal when skip to next/previous song.
Other users mentionned on the forum: > I'm running SC7.2 on an XP PC, with a Sbox3 with the latest firmware. My music is also Apple Lossless on a NAS. It was working before the upgrade, now I have a long gap of anything up to a minute before a track will play. When it does finally play, it can stutter and stop during the track. The buffer on the SB sits at 0% for ages while the track doesn't play. I have looked at all the settings on SC and they all appear to be correct. I have a few mp3 files which play without any problem, so I guess the issue is with the way the Apple Lossless files are being converted to AIFF / FLAC etc... > I think I have sort of resolved the issue for me. The problem only happens when the 'use Itunes' option has been checked in the settings. Unchecking that and just pointing squeezecentre to the music library and then rescanning works. > Files are Apple Lossless encoded using release 8 of the m4a encoder, dBpoweramp Ref 13.1 They play gapless for me; tested with Super furry animals / guerrilla; beatles / sgt pepper; pink floyd / dark side of the moon.I transcode to FLAC.
A fix was put in place for bug 9420 that should also fix this problem. Please try the latest nightly of SqueezeCenter and see if it fixes your problem. If it does not please reopen and add additional comments. You can find the nightly at http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/latest/7.2/ *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 9420 ***
Gaps are ok now but... In fact, after testing it... It doesn't work well ! > Start up not working... I have to start up manually > when playing a song, after 20 sec, there are saccades...
So do I understand the problem now is that only one song will play and then playback will stop and you have to hit 'play' to move on to the next song?
(In reply to comment #4) > So do I understand the problem now is that only one song will play and then > playback will stop and you have to hit 'play' to move on to the next song? > No, the song was playing but not fluently... Btw, I didn't do a fresh install, I did only an update. Maybe I should try to install the nightly with the old version removed before ?
There have been quite a few changes to the way audio is handled with SqueezeCenter 7.3. 7.3 can be found at http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/latest/7.3/ If you still experience this issue with 7.3 please reopen and add additional comments. Closing as works for me since I have not been able to reproduce.
