Bugzilla – Bug 9431
Volume drops to zero when new track plays; volume up/down restores it
Last modified: 2008-10-02 10:23:41 UTC
I currently am having a problem where each time a new track starts playing the playback volume drops to zero. When I tap volume up or down on the remote (or Controller) the volume jumps back to where I left it. It's as though the player has to be reminded each time that yes, I really did want to hear the sound. The setup: SC 7.2 running on a Mac, four sync'd players (two SB2s hardwired and two Receivers on WiFi). Volume is sync'd on three of the players at the moment, and I observe the problem on one of the sync'd players -- but I also observed this when it wasn't sync'd. I've observed this problem on both an SB2 and a Receiver. I can currently reproduce the problem pretty easily.
John: Please turn DEBUG on the following, then attach a clean log to this bug: control.command player.jive player.sync player.ui prefs
Lamentably I can't reproduce the bug now. I did restart SqueezeCenter since filing the bug. I've got the logging turned up per your request and I'll update the bug report with the log info once I manage to reproduce it.
By the way, can you say what you mean by "a clean log"? I assume we're just talking about the logfile -- and since it tends to grow very very large with all the debug turned up, probably just the last 10,000 lines of it or something?
John: By way of explanation..yes the last 10k lines or so would work :) Are you able to reproduce it any more? or was it a 1-2 time thing. I tested it here, and was unable to reproduce it in either Windows or MAC environments.
I haven't been able to reproduce it, but I haven't had time to try extensively. For a few days, it happened very consistently. Around that time I was tinkering pretty heavily with my SqueezeCenter configuration, so I suspect that I changed some setting that affected the problem; either that or restarting SC somehow cleared it. I'm hoping to have time to tinker with my SC config to see if I can reproduce the problem this weekend.
