I've added BNC Coax S/PDIF (source:bnc-spdif) as a favorite.  I did this by playing it from the Digital Inputs menu then going into Now Playing, going right on the entry and selecting Add To Favorites.  It now shows up in the favorites list, but if I try and play it the display shows Now Playing: Nothing and no audio is produced.

Note that playing BNC Coax S/PDIF through the Digital Inputs menu works fine - it's just when it's saved as a favorite that it can't be played.

Have you checked the logs?  This may be another case of bug 9097 if the isRemoteURL detection is tripping over the digital input urls.
