Description Terje 2008-08-27 13:46:41 UTC
When trying to play the WMA stream from http://85.196.91.162/R1O-160 SB3 just complains about an empty playlist. Stream work just fine when opened directly in Windows Media Player. I'm running the official SC 7.1.

May be the same or related to #9277?
Comment 2 James Richardson 2008-08-28 07:06:26 UTC
Which version of WMP is installed on the server?

Which version of Server 2003 do you have and what SP level is it at?
Comment 3 Terje 2008-08-28 07:17:15 UTC
I don't see why this has anything to do with the fact that my SB3's cannot play this stream, however:

>Which version of WMP is installed on the server?

WMP 10, but this is a server and I don't normally use WMP at all on any servers. I just usually test the streams on a clients WMP to see if the play there before complain about anything. :o)

>Which version of Server 2003 do you have and what SP level is it at?

R2 Standard SP2, all up to date.

This stream is WMA Pro, which we don't support in the firmware. Try enabling transcoding to play via wmadec.
Comment 6 Terje 2008-09-15 18:46:51 UTC
Ok, so that was a WMA Pro stream and that isn't supported in the firmware. But, as the products go more and more mainstream it should be handled in a better way. Either a proper error message, automatic use of wmadec if that works or even better add support for this in firmware (as well as WMA Lossless). For most people a WMA stream is a WMA stream and it's just an annoyance when it doesn't work. I'm not at home before next week so I cannot confirm if it works with transcoding using wmadec or not.

Reduce number of active targets for SC
