Bugzilla – Bug 9265
Track seeking broken?
Last modified: 2009-07-31 10:27:58 UTC
Sometimes when I click in the track progress control to skip to a section of a song, it doesn't seem to resume playback from the correct position. For example, today I ripped "The Verve - Urban Hymns", and upon playing the last track I discovered there was a "hidden" track (duration of track 13 "Come On" is 15:15, with silence between ~ 6:37 and 13:00). When it reached the silent section, I tried to click in the track progress control to skip forward to the start of the hidden track. Clicking various positions on this song does not seem to play what I would expect. Eg. I click to play at position 08:37, and it plays silence, then click 10:00 and it plays part of the earlier section of the song. Then click back to 08:37 and it plays other music, then back on 10:00 and it may be silence. No errors, but I get the following warning each time I click on the song progress bar: [21:14:26.1958] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1398) Warning: [21:14:26.1949] Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at P:/Music/SlimServer/trunk/server/Slim/Player/Source.pm line 1084.
Forgot to mention that I'm on SVN 22825, and experienced this in Firefox 3 with default skin. Also, as an enhancement, it would be nice if the song position time was displayed as a tooltip when the mouse is moved over the song progress bar (i.e. what playback time would be selected if you were to click on the area in the control).
Might be fixed with the new streaming code. Will look at this post 7.2.
Phil - are you still seeing this in 7.3?
I haven't switched to 7.3 yet - it was reportedly pretty unstable. I'll switch if that warning has been rescinded!
Phil - did you have any chance testing this on 7.3?
I have tried seeking using Default skin in SC7.3, and haven't noticed any problems yet. I haven't got the original track that I noticed problems with now though, as I split it into two and removed the silence from the middle.
Works for me. Please re-open if you do encounter this issue again. Thanks.
