Bugzilla – Bug 9261
Unpredictable power state when using power button to cancel alarm
Last modified: 2009-10-05 14:36:25 UTC
I cancel my alarms using the front panel power button while the alarm is playing (bell icon flashing). Most of the time it does what I expect (power off) but sometimes Boom powers on. SqueezeCenter Version: 7.2 - 22834 @ Fri Aug 22 01:08:03 PDT 2008 - Debian - EN - utf8 Perl Version: 5.8.8 x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi MySQL Version: 5.0.51a-3ubuntu5.1 Platform Architecture: x86_64-linux Perhaps it believes the button was double-pressed? If so it's a little sensitive. Let me know what debug flags to set to capture this.
cc'ing Max in case this is related to his recent contributions.
QA to reproduce
I always cancel alarms using the front panel button and haven't seen this in this situtation. However, at many non-alarm times in the past (this is over the past few years) I've seen players get very confused about whether they're on or off and do what you say. I think it's often (but not always) been related to sync. Do you have synced players?
I have seen this with Synced players only, and it has nothing to do with alarms. Many times, I'll have player A off, and player B on. Go to play a song in and both players will play, yet A will remain "off"
player.source player.sync logs might be useful
I have no synched players. I will turn on player.source debugging - but not player.sync because I'm not synching. The issue happened again this morning.
Forgive me for stating the obvious, but could you please also confirm that you've got all 3rd-party plugins disabled?
I have only one 3rd party plugin, IRBlaster. It's obviously not active for Boom (doesn't appear in the player settings menu) but I'll disable it for now.
Don't close this one out yet - it happened again this morning, but unfortunately I had Internet problems and my log filled up with messages about not being able to find a DNS server, etc.
Moving the bug to the monitor group. Let me know if you are able to reproduce it again Mark, make sure you attach a log with some data in it.

Marc: is this still reproducible with 7.4?
No, hasn't happened in a long while. OK to close!
