Description Mark Lanctot 2008-08-22 07:57:57 UTC
I'm cancelling my alarms by pressing the power button. Boom goes back to the power off state with the Date and Time screensaver.

However about 3 minutes later it comes back on again without any interaction from myself. I press the power off button, it goes back to the power off state with the Date and Time screensaver and doesn't come on again.

Many mornings it will do this with all 3 alarms.

Which debug flags should I set to capture what's happening?

I'm currently on:

SqueezeCenter Version: 7.2 - 22834 @ Fri Aug 22 01:08:03 PDT 2008 - Debian - EN - utf8
Perl Version: 5.8.8 x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi
MySQL Version: 5.0.51a-3ubuntu5.1
Platform Architecture: x86_64-linux

but it's been happening for weeks.

Max: Any idea what's going on here?
QA: Can you reproduce?
Comment 2 Jim McAtee 2008-08-22 09:23:12 UTC
Any chance this is related to the issues brought up in bug 9221 with using Pause? That bug was originally raised because alarms were repeating.

- What is the snooze length?
- What is the alarm timeout?
- Are any of the affected players in a sync group?
Comment 3 Mark Lanctot 2008-08-22 10:05:03 UTC
Snooze length 9 minutes (default, never touched it)

Alarm timeout 60 minutes (also default, never touched it)

No players synched.

Steven: You looking at this to reproduce?
Comment 5 Spies Steven 2008-08-22 13:10:13 UTC
Yes, I am looking at it now.
Comment 6 Spies Steven 2008-08-22 15:57:06 UTC
I have not been able to reproduce. I tried with Ubuntu, Win XP and Mac OS X 10.5.4.

Mark, you mention that three alarms are set. What time are the alarms set for?
Comment 7 James Richardson 2008-08-25 09:05:32 UTC
Mark: Are these players Synced?
Comment 8 Chris Owens 2008-08-25 09:13:10 UTC
Alan suspects this may be related to whether the playlist is set to repeat.
Comment 9 Chris Owens 2008-08-25 09:16:54 UTC
player.alarmclock and player.source

May I ask: Is Repeat used by the alarm system in some way? I've been noticing that since I began using alarms I'm finding Repeat set on some of my players even though I never use the function manually.

In comment #3 he said they were not.

The alarm doesn't do anything that would directly affect repeat.

Comment 13 Alan Young 2008-08-25 21:33:31 UTC
I was mistaken with my suggestion that repeat might be relevant. The issue can only occur if repeat is off in any case.

How would you know that if nobody knows yet what causes the problem? The player is OFF when this happens, so what difference would the Repeat setting make?
Comment 15 Alan Young 2008-08-26 01:42:08 UTC
You are right. Can't really say until we have a reproducible test case.
Comment 16 Mark Lanctot 2008-08-26 05:36:07 UTC
I'll turn on player.alarmclock and player.source debugging.

This issue didn't happen this morning?
Comment 17 Max Spicer 2008-08-26 05:46:12 UTC
Forgive me for stating the obvious, but could you please also confirm that you've got all 3rd-party plugins disabled?
Comment 18 Mark Lanctot 2008-08-26 06:01:58 UTC
I have only one 3rd party plugin, IRBlaster. It's obviously not active for
Boom (doesn't appear in the player settings menu) but I'll disable it for now.
Comment 19 Mark Lanctot 2008-08-26 07:04:28 UTC
Steven:

Alarms are set for 6:00 AM, 6:20 AM and 7:45 AM.

Most of last week, playback restarted exactly 4 minutes after the power button was pressed to deactivate each alarm.
Comment 20 Mark Lanctot 2008-08-29 05:39:42 UTC
This hasn't happened in a while now, but I'm not sure if changes were made to resolve it so please keep it open and I'll keep logging.
Comment 21 Chris Owens 2008-09-15 09:40:59 UTC
This seems difficult to reproduce. Please continue to add comments if you see this behavior.
Comment 22 Mark Lanctot 2008-09-15 10:02:12 UTC
I'll continue to monitor, but I haven't seen it in a long time now.
Comment 23 Christian 2010-09-11 04:05:37 UTC
Hello,

I have exactly the same problem with my squeesbox boom. But only if it is connected to www.mysqueezebox.com.
I installed squeece center 7.51 (Windows) and there I was not able to add a alarm clock. Whether in webinterface nor in the squeecebox boom I was able to open the 'Weckton' (Alert sound?) menu. On the server console output I saw an error message. Also the usage of my squeezebox is different with the local server than with mysqueezebox.com. So I think I'm not able to reproduce the error with the local server.
However, I don't want to use a local server. But I don't no how to discover the problem if my squeezebox boom is connected to www.mysqueezebox.com.

Could someone give my advice how to discover the problem?

The problem occurs at every alert. So it is easy to reproduce (but only if connected to www.mysqueezebox.com).
