Description Julius Dauz 2008-08-20 16:37:39 UTC
A customer asked for this enhancement.

He would like to see another browse option. Right now we can browse through:

Artist
Album
Genre
Years

What the customer would like to see is basically a list of the alphabet. This is so you can jump to a certain letter to browse only the Artists starting with that letter.

So if you want to browse for artists starting with the letter M, you can just scroll quickly to the letter M.

Dean, can you comment on and assign this one.
Comment 2 Blackketter Dean 2008-10-20 07:29:19 UTC
Well, I'd prefer to make the scrolling more intuitive. Caleb: Can you give some guidance here?
Comment 3 Caleb Crome 2008-10-20 09:10:58 UTC
Ya, this is the same old scrolling of long lists problem we talked about long ago that's fixed in Boom & SB3, but needs work on controller.

I can take this when I get some free time, or if somebody wants to get into a little bit of math, I can describe the algorithm we use in Boom, which I think is the most applicable.

Ben,
What's the current ability of SqueezeOS to request partial lists of items from SC? What I'd like is to be able to submit a request for an arbitrary, disjoint list of items in a list. With that, we can make the scrolling really sweet.

-Caleb

requesting partial lists of arbitrary partial chunks from SC is not a problem.
Comment 5 Blackketter Dean 2008-11-04 15:30:23 UTC
Caleb to address this...
Comment 6 Blackketter Dean 2009-07-22 08:39:28 UTC
Moving to the product SqueezePlay because this bug appears to apply to any player based on that application code. Feel free to move it back if it's specific to the single original product.

Tom - Caleb says you have been working this area. Can you prioritize?
Comment 8 Ben Klaas 2009-08-26 07:53:40 UTC
this is an administrative shuffle on priority fields to help make better judgment on the top end of the priority list. P4->P5, P3->P4, and P2->P3.
Comment 9 Wadzinski Tom 2009-10-08 10:18:36 UTC
is a sb3 feature.

Tom, these are two totally different bugs: 9234 is about an additional
menu level, 13779 is about enabling the remote's alphanumerical keys to
jump within a list.

That's a dupe of the other one, which wasn't a dupe ;-)
Comment 15 Chris Owens 2009-10-21 09:47:49 UTC
Moving these bugs to P4 to make room for moving P1.5 bugs to P2
Comment 16 Pat Ransil 2009-10-23 05:09:48 UTC
Administrative move of 7.5 bugs. All P2, P3, P4 being downgraded one level. Will then split P1s.
Comment 17 Chris Owens 2010-03-08 11:33:10 UTC
Moving lower-priority bugs to next target
Comment 18 Chris Owens 2010-05-06 15:38:04 UTC
Tom is no longer available to us
Comment 19 Alan Young 2011-11-06 23:24:33 UTC
Unassigned bugs cannot have a priority.
