A customer would like to see a "Play all" option for playing everything in his Music Library collection.

I know this can be acheived through "Random Mix" and I showed the customer how to do this, but he still would like to see a "Play all" option when browsing through Artists, Albums, Genre, and Years.

Will consider for 7.3

This option was previously removed because it caused stalls on the server side.

I want to describe the situation more clearly so that the bug can be properly fixed. Currently I am running a Mac OS.

I have successfully added all of my music to the Transporter. I can play all of my music through the Transporter and it is all visible in the SqueezeCenter window accessed through my web browser.

What I can't do is easily create a massive playlist called "All Songs" so that I can shuffle all of my music. I was looking for a "Select All" and "Add to Playlist" feature, but it is nowhere to be found. I do not want to have to manually select and add 2700 albums to a playlist just so I can play my whole collection randomly.

Thanks.

That's exactly what the RandomPlay plugin is for: play random tracks from your entire collection. Just try it and you won't miss the Play All feature any more.

I understand the Random feature, but I am running my Transporter through a Crestron system and I need to "create a playlist" in order for Crestron to play in shuffle all mode. I guess this is a programming glitch and could be fixed, but I want to create a permanent "All Songs" playlist that my Crestron system recognizes.

possible DUP of many old bugs

Ben: Do you think this could be worked into the Party Mode feature? or should it be separate from that.

Maybe a 'Smart Play All Mode' where it keeps track of what songs have been played, and won't replay them during that session.
Comment 9 Ben Klaas 2008-11-03 14:46:00 UTC
Definitely not part of Party Mode.

Apologies, but this is going to be a very low priority bug to fix. Correctly targetted at 8.0.
Comment 10 Michael Herger 2008-11-03 23:01:10 UTC
Isn't 'Smart Play All Mode' implemented in RandomPlay? We've removed the "play all" functionality for good reasons. Do we really need to put it in again?

Play All is currently a very bad idea because large playlists are a serious drain on the server. Not likely to see this any time soon, sorry.
