Bugzilla – Bug 918
included pony
Last modified: 2005-03-12 07:50:21 UTC
Future versions of the wireless Squeezebox should include a pony. The player may be mounted in the saddle or a saddle bag, with headphones and a battery pack such as that tested by momerath (http://lists.slimdevices.com/archives/discuss/2005-February/thread.html#42880). Coupled with proper wireless infrastructure, this enhancement would allow for proper soundtracking during backyard games of: * cowboys and indians * steeplechase * horse-track racing * adventuring Backyard not included. Suggested pony models: (http://images.google.com/images?q=pony&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search)
I'm not so sure that "Hardware" is the appropriate component for this bug. "Wetware" seems to be missing from the list, though.

bwaaaah, boo hoo, I want my Mummy!
I found a possible supplier, but it doesn't look good. >>>>> Sean, Sorry, Pony (#PNY-1873926-AEQ-23) is not available due to EMI concerns. Engineering is working on a fix using pony bonsai technique before we can begin production. We do have Donkey (#DKY -81430823-POO-34) or Mule (#MUL-98250134-83) available in lead-free package for compliance with new European directives. Donkey is recommended for 2.4GHz radio application. Product comes in tube or reel packaging for SMT installation. Price $697.03 USD QTY 1000 FOB TAIWAN ROC EX-WORKS T/T in advance 30 days ARO. Please advise.

I voted for this enhancement but I really need to know if the pony under development is going to be suitable for polo. If not, I will remove my vote since we only get 1000. The polo pony requirement is a showstopper for me. I hear the next Roku is coming with a quarterhorse that can possibly be hacked for polo. If slimdevices can't come through on this one I may have to jump ship. Oh and I really hope you guys don't just bundle it with some cheap moose or something!
In my ABX testing uncompressed ponies tended to cause excessive... erm... "dropouts".
Daryle, I'm sure that if the pony isn't immediately polo-suitable, you'll be able to fix that with a simple clock-chip swap. I hear the cheaper ponies are prone to the jitters.
FREEPONY is now available in the form of a $20 discount code for Squeebox2. Closing this ticket.
Say, could the "FREEPONY" also be available as a rebate (eg. mail in form) to those of us who purchase an SB2 through a distributor?
