No IR Input on Duet Receiver!
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:12:07 UTC
I have been using Squeezeboxes for many years, and have integrated them with Home Automation systems of various types using the IR control, so the system can play music when people wake up or return home, and stop the player when the system is armed or at night. That also allows remote control from room keypads, and other devices. Now, with the Duet Receiver, I cannot control it from the system, most systems are not yet capable of Ethernet control, and you have not published any codes that would enable remote control via an Ethernet command. Therefore, the Duet receiver is virtually useless- I still have to use SB 2 or 3 receivers. I did see that the PC Board for the Duet receiver was laid out for an IR receiver. Is there any way to populate that, and if so, is it enabled in the firmware? In fact, I don't necessarily need to use an infrared receiver- if I could wire it to a Xantech IR block directly, it would be even better! Can you release any info on this even if the hardware change doesn't get made? Thank you! Orrin Charm 818-887-3303
Orrin: your best bet is to get a Squeezebox Classic. Or better yet, control the device via the network using the command line interface. Documented here: Help > Technical Information > Command Line Interface from the web UI. Some simple examples here: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/CLI
