Description Bret 2008-08-11 06:16:40 UTC
SB3 Does a complete factory reset when you press preset 6 on a current generation Bose Wave Radio remote control.

Switching off JVC codes makes no differnce.

Complete factory reset is quite annoying static IP WPA keys etc.. lost.

Reported multiple times in the forums;

QA to investigate
Comment 2 Bret 2008-08-11 11:28:03 UTC
This only happens with the new generation Bose Wave radio's the previous models did not cause a problem.
Comment 3 Spies Steven 2008-08-11 14:31:24 UTC
Bret, could you go to Bose's site a let us know which remote causes the problem for you? The ones we have on hand do not cause the issue most likely because they are older and I want to be sure we order the right one.

I posted the link to the remotes above.

Any of the remotes listed here cause the reset.

Wave® premium backlit remote

Additional Wave® music system remote control

It's pressing preset six on the Bose remote that does it.

Here are the ir code results captured by SqueezeCenter from a SLIMP3.

Old Bose remote button 6:
[08-08-15 09:14:22.4187] Slim::Hardware::IR::lookupCodeBytes (463) 5da230cf -> unknown

New Bose remote button 6:
[08-08-15 09:14:54.7656] Slim::Hardware::IR::lookupCodeBytes (463) 00009867 -> unknown

Slim remote hidden button 1:
[08-08-15 09:15:37.7829] Slim::Hardware::IR::lookupCodeBytes (463) 768930cf -> unknown

Felix, let me know if there is any thing else you need.
Comment 6 Felix Mueller 2008-08-17 04:15:18 UTC
Steven, are you sure you did not press 'Chapter Next' instead of 'Preset 6'?

I get 00009867 for 'Chapter Next' and 000030cf for 'Preset 6'.

Anyway, using my Harmony One I was able to reproduce and it looks like Bose is not using a proper device code, i.e. 0000, and that fools our ir matching code.

Fixed in rev 4752, will be in SB3 fw 112 and TR fw 62 (SBR is not affected due to lack of infrared.)

Oh, I forgot. Invoking factory test via our own remote is still working.
Comment 8 James Richardson 2008-08-27 10:56:07 UTC
Verified fixed in
SB2/3 r112
Transporter r62
Boom r32

Thanks just updated with firmware from the nightly build 7.2-23076.
No problems with the Bose remote preset six button.

Thanks for fixing so quickly! - Now if only the developers would stop adding all these new Perl modules that don't compile on Solaris.

Bret
