Description Joggs 2008-08-11 03:33:38 UTC
The Duet remote cannot connect to a wireless network if SSID broadcast is turned off (the latest 7.3 software) (I haven't tested it with a stable release like 7.1 so I don't know if it ever worked) The remote has all the information about the WAN that it needs to connect without a SSID broadcast if I understand it correctly so in my opinion it should be treated as a bug.

You should be able to enter the SSID - working fine for me on 7.2.

I still cannot access it.
I have 64 bit WEB encryption enabled as well.

This is my steps.
1. disable SSID broadcast in router so that you cannot find the wireless network by searching for networks
2. enter the name of my wireless network using 'other networks' on my Duet
3. enter my 64bit wep key in hex values
4. Cannot connect.

if I turn on ssid broadcast I can connect right away.
I'm using latest 7.3 which should be the same as 7.2 if I understand it correctly.

same here: SSID hidden, 64bit WEP. Are you using any characters besides A-Z and 0-9 in the key?

Wanted to say: same configuration, but working.

No,
I have entered a hex key which means that I only can enter 0-9 and A-F
and i have generated my hex key manually, ie no normal to hex word generator if you know what I mean.

My SSID contains a - and that is the only character that is not letters for me.

This is not a very big deal for me as I can run with ssid broadcast turned on.
It would just be nice if it would work for me.

I don't have another wireless router that I can test with so that we can exclude the possibility of a faulty router, but all other of my wireless devices can connect without ssid broadcast enabled.

Richard, is this a dupe of bug 5178?
