Description Jim McAtee 2008-08-10 14:04:09 UTC
Please add another brightness setting for whenever a player is playing audio.

The problem I have is with the 'Idle' brightness. Currently this encompasses the times when a player is 'On' and doing nothing, plus when it's playing music.

I'd like to have a brighter display setting whenever I'm navigating menus and _also_ whenever there's audio being streamed and the Now Playing (or whichever screensaver I choose) is being displayed, so that I can easily read the display. When the player is sitting idle and displaying (as I use) Date/Time, I'd like to use a very low brightness setting to save the display from burn in. Currently, the only way to do this is to always turn the player Off when it's not in use, which is generally a PITA, particularly because Off has few other uses and affects how a player behaves when it's a member of a sync group.

Maybe it would be better if the brightness settings were more closely aligned with the screensaver states:

* Playing

* Off

* Stopped

and add:

* In Use (or On, or something) to indicate the brightness at power up and whenever the user is using the remote or front panel. IMO, more closely aligning these states with the screensaver states would be less confusing to the user.
