If you just hit the left arrow and go back to setup that way, the boom never shows up in the SBC's list of players.

Here is why a factory reset is needed:

To enable UDAP (and the associated ad-hoc wireless network needed so SBC can pick it up) a reset is needed. In addition all old data (i.e. SSID, keys, IP address etc.) needs to be cleared out as it is used as indicator whether to start normally (i.e. connecting to AP, getting an IP address and connecting to SC) or in UDAP mode. Now, if you take both requirements together you get a factory reset.
