Description James Richardson 2008-08-05 15:53:23 UTC
After I have done a Device Reset; settings > player > Reset player preferences then the Player Name is reset to Squeezebox. This is expected behavior.

However, if I then attempt to change the player name and close the Settings window, a few minutes later the Web UI will reset (show) to "Squeezebox" again. I am unable to get any name change to stick.

Closing and Restarting SC will not solve the issue.

Both the WEB UI and Player UI will show the player name is "Squeezebox"

can't reproduce this. Here's what I've done:

- reset player prefs -> name is "Squeezebox"
- changed player name to "Boulot"
- new name shows up in the player selector list (might take a few seconds, as the GUI only updates every 5-10 seconds)
- new name is shown on player, in Settings/Player/Basic, player selector etc.

How many minutes did you have to wait?

Ah, I see a possible issue here: are you syncing your settings with SN?

After the previous tests (which didn't reproduce your issue), I enabled SN synching. The player name immediately changed back to the name it had _before_ the reset (not the default value).

If I enable SN synching before the player reset and renaming, everything's fine again.

Can you confirm this behaviour?

Yes, that is the case. I have keep player settings in sync enabled.

Do you think this would cause any adverse affects with the player reset command?

If not, I'll close this bug

yes, it could influence. But imho this would only happen if you:

1. disable synching
2. reset the player
3. enable synching again

imho not something the average user will do. If this is true then we can close this as a border case.

I agree, closing bug
