Description Osama Zaidan 2008-08-05 10:36:14 UTC
Customer wants to upgrade from 6.5.4 to 7.1, without uninstalling 6.5.4 first.
He has some plug-ins he wants to keep. Does any one know if there is a script will do that for him?
Customer’s platform is SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 on an x86 System.

Upgrading from any 6.5.x to 7.x will require installing updated versions of all plugins anyway, so I'm not sure what such a script would actually do.

Thanks Fletch. Each plugin has its own update requirements.

Hello Fletch,

I do not agree with your point of view: On Windows platforms it is also possible to upgrade. I want to keep my setting and customizations and I want to keep my plugins. E.g. in Firefox the plugins are checked for compatibility and possible updates when upgrading the browser.

At least it should be possible to keep my settings because this would be a lot of work to write all changes down and apply them on the new version...

Hope someone has a better help than "nope"...

Regards, Ronald
