Bugzilla – Bug 9023
Player must always have a name
Last modified: 2009-07-31 10:26:29 UTC
Created attachment 3739 [details] Screenshot After downloading SoftSqueeze from my SqueezeCenter I discovered that the "Choose player" drop-down was no longer working as it should. No players was shown in the list (See attached screenshot). By going to the settings I found out that the newly downloaded SoftSqueeze was listed without a name. As soon as I gave a name to this player and reloaded the SqueezeCenter frontpage the drop-down was working again. The Player drop-down under Settings->Player did work with the empty player name (shows an empty entry in the drop-down)
Are you using the release version of 7.1 or some nightly build? If the latter - what exact revision? The effect you're seeing shouldn't happen, but basically players must _always_ have a name. Where did you download SoftSqueeze from?
The SqueezeCenter should be the release version. The status page says: SqueezeCenter Version: 7.1 - 22170 @ Mon Jul 28 13:28:46 PDT 2008 - Red Hat - EN - utf8 The SoftSqueeze I downloaded from my SqueezeCenter. During download it says SoftSqueeze 3.6. When starting after download it does say "This version of SoftSqueeze is optimesed for SqueezeCetner 7.0 but you are running SqueezeCenter 7.1. It is recommended that you upgrade SoftSqueeze". But this message I can remember to have seen on earliere versions of SqueezeCenter.
Hmm... I can't reproduce this. As soon as a new player is added, it gets a default player name ("SoftSqueeze", "Squeezebox" etc.). And you can't delete that name. Can you reproduce this? I tried with a clean system (all settings removed, had to go through the wizard again etc.), and the player immediately showed up as "Softsqueeze". This, I'm sure, is the default name, as I've been naming it differerently before. So I'm sure this isn't some setting which had survived.
Lars - this is just working for me. Feel free if you can reproduce this issue with SC 7.1 or later. Thanks for your understanding!
