Description Dan Evans 2008-08-01 15:11:03 UTC
Multiple action items:

1. The text in these e-mails could use a rewrite to soften it and make it more reminder or confirmation like in tone.

2. Improve or expand what we filter on... Chris provided some excellent ideas on how to better filter our detection process:

* Watch for players switching back and forth between accounts (not just a single switch)
* Watch for players that change geographic locations instantly and/or repeatedly
* Watch for players SN switching servers repeatedly

Brian: Can you look at the current text and offer some friendly advice about making it more friendly?
Comment 2 Chris Owens 2008-08-11 09:49:15 UTC
Ping Brian. Dean notes we can fix this for english for 7.2, other languages to be done later.

is it possible to have one of those emails sent to me? I don't want to have to move a player to another account to see this....

Here's an example of what we got from a customer as a result of this e-mail: (from ticket# 080806-003603)

= = = = =

"Support:

The MAC address is the address of my player, but I didn't register it with a new account. The player should still be with my account <customer-email>. Also, I never heard of the "Post Group".

Thanks for any help with this matter.

Interesting, ff:ff:02 is one off from the default invalid MAC.
Comment 7 Brian Dils 2008-08-14 16:46:21 UTC
not sure how much more friendly we want to get, but like Dean mentioned, we
should rethink where the MAC address is in the email. I just reset a bunch of
passwords to see what the emails were like, and they were all basically of this
same tone.

Do we need the "MAC:" in the email at all?

Also can we add a bold title above the "this email is to notify...." So the
email could look like this:

To: %s
Bcc: support-team@slimdevices.com
From: SqueezeNetwork <support@squeezenetwork.com>
Subject: Your player '%s' has changed accounts

Your player account has changed accounts

This email is to notify you that your player named '%s' has been registered
to another account.

If you did not perform this action, please contact Support by replying to this
email. Otherwise no further account is needed at this time.

Thank you,

- The Slim Devices Team

"Your player account has changed accounts"? Huh? I think that this line can just be removed.

Can we just put the MAC address as a note at the bottom of the message, so that they can ignore it (but it will be there if support needs it?)

Finally, Andy, it seems that there are some policy changes suggested for what triggers the email. Can you comment?
Comment 9 Blackketter Dean 2008-08-21 09:18:43 UTC
Ping andy...
Comment 10 Chris Owens 2008-08-21 09:59:40 UTC
Dean notes the MAC should be moved down to the bottom of the message.
Comment 11 Andy Grundman 2008-08-21 11:24:31 UTC
Fixed in trunk r4348.
