Bugzilla – Bug 8971
Add Newsletter signup to SqueezeNetwork Wizard
Last modified: 2009-01-23 20:39:57 UTC
We need to include Opt-in checkboxes for the slimdevices newsletter and the Logitech newsletter on the SqueezeNetwork signup page of the Wizard. A checkbox for each should be placed below the SqueezeNetwork account information on the first page of the Wizard.
Could you please provide miwth some ext it should be accompanied by? Thanks
Slimdevices newsletter text (Empty checkbox needed): Click here to receive updates on the Squeezebox and Transporter family of products. You’ll be notified of software updates, new hardware platforms, and other important news directly related to Squeezebox, Transporter, SqueezeCenter and SqueezeNetwork. Logitech Newsletter text(Empty checkbox needed): Yes, I would like to receive information from Logitech on product updates/upgrades, new products, the Logitech newsletter(s), and exclusive offers that may be of interest to me. E-mail type text/html (Empty checkbox needed-only if either/both newsletter boxes checked) and neded in a smaller text size below the opt-in texts: Logitech respects and protects your privacy and will not rent, sell or share your personal information with outside companies for their promotional use. Created attachment 3741 [details] layout with newsletter subscriptions Tried to come up with the layout. But it's looking crappy. Could you please have a chat with Brian?
Brian - I've tried to come up with a layout adding the newsletter subscription form. But it's looking ugly (see screenshot). Could you please help us with the layout? Thanks!
Yeah I'll take a shot at it
Reassigning to Brian. We discussed it and will review for next release.
Created attachment 3789 [details] redesign
What do you guys think of this? I wish we had more space vertically....I reworked the language of the Slim Devices opt-in to be more consistent with the Logitech one
Here is the Slimdevices Opt-in language re-written. This combines the 2 opt-ins used on the Slimdevices web page. Click here to receive important information regarding software updates, announcements of new products and music services, and other information related to your Squeezebox or Transporter.
> Here is the Slimdevices Opt-in language re-written. This combines the 2 opt-ins > used on the Slimdevices web page. You mean this should make one combox for two opt-ins? Brian - looking much better, though still very crammed. Not a lot we can do I guess, just too much words.
Yes, we are combining the two opt-in messages (Slim devices and partner announcements) into one. There will still be two opt-ins on the page (Slim opt-in, and Logoitech opt-in)
Brian - could you please include that change in your mockup? I still don't understand from the description. Thanks!
*** Bug 9369 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Mike - could you please define what exactly (you've been writing about an opt-in language?) needs to be moved to the front page? I can't find anything in the specs.
The first page of the singup wizard (the page where the customer enters their e-mail and password) will need to have 2 checkboxes to allow opt-in to receive communications from Slimdevices and from Logitech. The first checkbox should use this text: Click here to receive important information regarding software updates, announcements of new products and music services, and other information related to your Squeezebox or Transporter. This text will need to be translated into our supported languages The second checkbox should use this text: Yes, I would like to receive information from Logitech on product updates/upgrades, new products, the Logitech newsletter(s), and exclusive offers that may be of interest to me. This should also be translated.
Oh, one important detail: I assume these checkboxes correspond to the sms_opt_in and logi_opt_in DB fields?
change 4470 - setting the above DB fields to 1 if checked. Please let me know if this wasn't the plan.
This bug has been fixed in the latest release of SqueezeNetwork! If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.
