Description Anoop Mehta 2008-07-30 17:13:29 UTC
When connected to SC7.1 the option for Information Browser is acting very weird.

At first when I went to Extras, there was no option for Information Browser.

I then connected my unit to SN.

I then connected back to SC 7.1 and there were two options for Information Browser. One of the options does not allow me to select it.

Controller Firmware is r2722
SqueezeCenter Version: 7.1 - 22170 @ Mon Jul 28 13:36:57 PDT 2008 - Windows XP - EN - cp1251

after more investigation this was happening when I installed SC 7.1 over 7.0.1

When I did a clean install everything seems to be working fine.

Please let me know if there is any information that I am missing.

QA to try to reproduce
Comment 2 James Richardson 2008-08-08 08:56:38 UTC
QA has been able to reproduce this. What logging should we turn on?
Comment 3 Blackketter Dean 2008-08-08 10:12:10 UTC
Triode, can you help here?
Comment 4 Adrian Smith 2008-08-08 10:40:19 UTC
This sounds like a problem with the add/remove from menu node functions. Ben is best placed look at this as he did the recent changes.

Can QA provide a process to reproduce though.

Ben - I notice SetupNetTest includes an additional check for server connected in comparison to info browser, but this does not explain duplicated menu entries?
Comment 5 Ben Klaas 2008-08-08 11:21:46 UTC
James, if you could extract the messages file from the controller when this happens, it'd be useful. I wrote up something on the wiki just now on how to do that:

http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezeboxControllerMessagesFile#Extracting_the_Messages_File_from_a_Controller

Triode, I'll take a look at the differences in SetupNetTest and InfoBrowser meta files. I had tweaked both of these about a month ago to get them to load at all, but looks like it's still not quite right. I've noticed that the jnt notifications don't always work as you'd expect, which is probably a larger bug, but for now I'm going to see what I can do to workaround this for 7.2.

One thing that is really odd though is seeing any item show up as a duplicate, since the HomeMenu code should never allow two items with the same id on the same menu.

Comment 6 Chris Owens 2008-08-11 09:52:10 UTC
Ben needs exact steps to reproduce this.
Comment 7 Ben Klaas 2008-08-11 09:55:32 UTC
Michael mentioned that this behavior is not limited to InfoBrowser, but has to do with (any) items being removed, re-added, removed, re-added, etc.

Problem likely lies in HomeMenu add/remove item code

I have what may be the same bug -- Info Browser periodically disappears from my Extras menu. When this happens it doesn't correlate with any user-initiated menu changes, that is, I'm not changing my Home menu or any other menus.
Comment 9 James Richardson 2008-12-18 11:32:46 UTC
We put some changes in for bug 10326, can anyone seeing this issue please test SC SqueezeCenter 7.3.1 24367 with Controller 7.3 r3476

Let us know if this issue is still present, or goes away.
Comment 10 John Scudder 2008-12-18 11:45:14 UTC
FWIW I saw the bug with SqueezeCenter 7.3 24282 and Controller 7.3 r3476. I'm not eager to go back to running nightlies so I'm unlikely to try 7.3.1 until it's been blessed as a release, sorry.
Comment 11 Marc Auslander 2008-12-23 14:10:48 UTC
This is still happening. I opened a new bug with the following which has been marked a dup of this.

I'm running
Version: 7.3.2 - 24401 @ Tue Dec 23 03:13:39 PST 2008 and 7.3 r3587

This is NOT new to these releases. I think it is new to 7.3.

I see menus disappear from the controller. Right now, infobrowser is gone from
extras and settings is completely empty, except the header on top that says
settings.

Choosing a different player restores the entries!

There is nothing suspicious in the SC logs.
Comment 12 Marc Auslander 2008-12-23 14:13:19 UTC
Are there any controller or SC debug logging settings I should enable? I have a large SD card, so I can log lots it you like.
Comment 13 Dennis Mutsaers 2009-05-20 02:35:32 UTC
I frequently have an empty 'settings' menu on my controller. Don't know when it happens though...
Comment 14 Dennis Mutsaers 2009-05-20 02:58:04 UTC
I think this bug deserves more attention. It looks like SD are trying hard to get the Duet more stable (not that I had many issues), and 7.3.3 will be released only when there's a rock solid firmware for the controller. I don't think the controller gives a stable impression when you need to reboot your controller to get your 'settings' menu on your controller back.
Comment 15 Ross Levine 2009-05-20 12:07:40 UTC
Dennis what Controller firmware are you using?
Comment 16 Dennis Mutsaers 2009-05-20 12:53:20 UTC
I'm using 7.3.3 R5577
Comment 17 Dennis Mutsaers 2009-06-15 08:23:22 UTC
Something new: When browsing the 'music folders' some folders are empty (but they aren't) A reboot of the controller solves this.
Comment 18 Dennis Mutsaers 2009-06-15 08:28:37 UTC
I'm using 7.3.3 r6038
Comment 19 James Richardson 2009-09-15 18:26:50 UTC
QA to verify on 7.4
Comment 20 James Richardson 2009-09-16 11:48:51 UTC
Using 7.4 SBS and Firmware for SBC I have not been able to reproduce any of the issues as described in this bug. I will be closing this bug as fixed.
Comment 21 James Richardson 2009-10-05 14:29:49 UTC
