Bugzilla – Bug 8938
StereoXL set to ON by default even if off in SqueezeCenter
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:19:22 UTC
When I first start up Boom with FW21, stereoXL is on by default. I tested this on 2 Booms with same results. I checked the Settings->Audio->stereoXL, and sure enough, it's set to off. Turned off in both instances by going to Settings above and selecting off again.
What should be the default? SXL on or SXL off? This is mainly a concern disconnected mode. In connected mode (either SC or SN), it should get set at reconnect. I'll duplicate this for SC. -Caleb
I'd say the default should be off.
I made sure that the steroXL is set to off in the DSP by default. However, I don't know the right place to affect the change in the server to ensure it's set to off upon reconnect. Please reassign to somebody more familiar with the server side, or point me to where the default SXL, Bass and treble settings should take affect. Should this be in Boom::reconnect? or is there a generic place?

not sure why you need to change what it does on reconnect. Set the value from the server it is stored as a pref, which is hopefully then kept if the player power is reset? If not, then the call on reconnect should set stereoxl, bass and treble to the current server client prefs.
I agree that the default doesn't need to get set at every reconnect. QA to see what the current behavior is.
SC 7.2-22405 appears to have addressed this issue. SC did not have any options to change Base/Treble/Stereo They do now. So now, the defaults for SC is off, and the default in DSP matches.
Verified in 7.2.1 - 23530, fw 33. SC defaulting to Stereo XL off.
This bug has been fixed in the 7.3.0 release version of SqueezeCenter! Please download the new version from http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html if you haven't already. If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.
