Description Ben 2008-07-29 11:39:55 UTC
Everytime I try to pull up this page it will act as though it is loading, but never gets passed the java loading splash page. Have reinstalled my windows server 2003 on a new box, and installed the squeezecenter v7.0.1 and have the newest java. This is the second box I tried running it on and also have tried it windows xp, all the same issues.

Are you talking about web interface or softsqueeze? Your url, and the mention of Java implies an issue with softsqueeze, not the web ui as your summary suggests.

Lowering from "blocker" status as this is very much not a global issue. Softsqueeze and the web ui work fine on my setup.

Suggest contacting support@slimdevices.com for support.

Ok, I guess it is more with softsqueeze/squeezecenter. I agree, I don't think the issue lies w/ Java, but something to do with the applet never loading fully because of something on the backend/softsqueeze/squeezecenter. Thanks.

what about trying command line:
java -jar "c:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server\HTML\EN\html\softsqueeze\SoftSqueeze.jar"
Comment 4 Ben 2008-07-29 14:07:49 UTC
I couldn't get it to do anything when including java or -jar, but when I just did: "c:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server\HTML\EN\html\softsqueeze\SoftSqueeze.jar"
It would brind up a SoftSqueeze.jar directory.

Ben: we just released 7.1 this week, can you please try this version to see if it has any issues with 2003.

I tested it here and couldn't get the error you were describing.

Can you also verify the Java version you have: http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp

James, can you answer the following questions posted to us by Ben, thanks

When James Richardson says, "I tested it here and couldn't get the error you were describing." what does that mean? Did he test it by going to my page and trying to pull it up. I guess I'd like a little bit more

Ben: I have tried SoftSqueeze on both my local 2003 SP2 system, as well as your remote system.

My only guess at this point would be your Java Install. Have you verified that you have the correctly installed java client?

If you use the option "click to install and run SoftSqueeze" then it SS will launch and play the remote stream listed above.

If you use the option "SoftSqueeze as an applet" then it will fail to launch properly.

Osama, thank you for the picture, this helped me figure out the error. Please let the customer know to use the "install and run" option to see if that corrects his issue.

Michael: please remove the run as an applet feature until we can get it working properly.
Comment 9 Ben 2008-08-04 16:06:59 UTC
Ok, will try that out tonight to see if it resolves issue. Thanks.

change 22602 - Time to say goodbye to SoftSqueeze. It's no longer officially developed, thus removed from the home menu. I'm removing the broken applet link, too.
