Bugzilla – Bug 8894
Receiver won't turn off
Last modified: 2008-07-31 09:40:46 UTC
I have two sets of the Squeezebox Duet. My music sources are: Laptop PC, Desktop PC, Internet Radio, MP3Tunes Locker. Both sets of the Duet are hooked up to my network wirelessly via a 2Wire 1000HG DSL Router/and router. After listening to music, I would turn my PC's off, turn the receiver off, and then turn off the controller. However, within minutes, the receiver's light would come on, and stay on, even though everything is off. The light's color is blue. Also, even with all the PC's off, and I turned off all Squeezebox controller and receivers using the controller buttons, the 2Wire wireless router's "network" lights remain on, indicating that a piece of equipment is still on the network. Can't be my PC's because they're all off. Can't be the controllers because they're all off, too. I'm guessing the receivers continue to access the network, since the receiver's lights will eventually come back on and stay on. I read somewhere in the slimdevices.com forums that another owner has a similar issue. The Slimdevices Tech recommended that both receivers be switched over to SqueezeNetwork, then turn the receivers, controllers, and PC's off. Apparently, that will prevent the receivers from accessing the network trying to connect to the PC's. Here's the link to the forum: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48414 I haven't tried the recommended solution, and will try it as later today. If it does work, I still think it's an annoyance that should be fixed in the next firmware. Will post the results.
(In reply to comment #0) Okay, so I tried the slimdevices tech's recommendation. That is, I changed the music source of both players to "SqueezeNetwork" before I shut off the Receivers, Controllers, and PC's. It worked!! The receivers did not come back on by itself. I still recommend a fix in the next firmware upgrade to address the issue at it seems very inconvenient to switch to and from SqueezeNetwork every time. A couple of more bugs I noticed: 1. When each of the receiver is connected to a different music source, I cannot find the other from my controller intermittently. Sometimes both players are seen by my controllers, sometimes they aren't. 2. I can access my MP3Tunes Locker when I'm using my PC as my "music Source". However, when I tried accessing my mp3tunes Locker while having SqueezeNetwork as my "music source", mp3tunes doesn't recognize me as an account holder--I got a message indicating that "I need to log into SqueezeNetwork to get my 60-day free trial"... > I have two sets of the Squeezebox Duet. technically, there is no 'off'. It is simply a logical state. If you turn the PC off, then squeezecenter is gone and the receiver has no 'off' state (which is dependant on the server keeping track of said state). The receiver then shows that it is disconnected from any server (the blue led).
Francis: most of these issues have been addressed with new firmware and SC versions. Can you please retest your issues using the latest version of SC 7.1. If you still see issues, please open new bugs (1 bug report for each issue).
