Description tamanaco 2008-07-20 06:18:17 UTC
I recently noticed that the mixes that I create with SC and the MusicIP plugin v1.0 do not include tracks that have extended characters like á é í ó ú ü ñ ¡ ç ô ã anywhere in their path or file names. I now realize that the mixes I have been listening are not "true" MusicIP mixes as the MusicIP plugin selects a subsequent track that has no extended characters in its path/name. My playlist are limited to 50 tracks, but this number is reduced by the number of tracks that the MusicIP-SC mixer fails to add. My music library is made up of about 60% World and Classical genre which are tagged with the name of the artist/album/tracks in their native language. It's a pity that a large percentage of these tracks are not included in the playlists that I create with the MusicIP plugin. This problem also stops the SugarCube plugin from dynamically adding tracks with extended characters. I guess these extended characters get lost in translation somewhere between MusicIP server and MusicIP Plugin-SC. Today I tested using the new MusicIP mixer ver 1.95b6 which was supposed to fix some encoding issues, but I'm still experiencing the same problem. When a tracks fail they generate error messages in the server log like the ones below. Notice that the error messages reflect the correct paths and tracks names which include extended characters. The files exist in the locations pointed by the messages in the log. I can see that my settings in MusicIP are creating good mixes (moods), but it's a pitty that the "true" end result does not make it to the playlist.

I'm running SC 7.1 build 21902 07/19 on a laptop running Windows XP SP3 with an external USB 2.0 1GB My Book Home Edition external drive that holds my FLAC library. All the tracks including those with extended characters play as expected from the SC Web UI and from my SB3.

change 21950 - we need to try harder finding the filename. Some platforms need the path to be utf8 encoded.
