Description James Richardson 2008-07-15 10:03:21 UTC
When attempting to connect a receiver to SC 7.1 in Bridge Mode (I.E. receiver has an Ethernet cable plugged into it) the receiver gets lost at yellow LED (waiting for DHCP) and will fail to connect.

Steps to reproduce
1) Factory reset a Duet set (Controller / Receiver) either r2144/23 or 2697/36 remove power from receiver
2) Install 7.1-21761 to either PC/MAC
3) Plug an Ethernet cable in the back of Receiver. Plug power into receiver
4) Pick up the Controller, and walk through first time setup
5) Select "connect using Squeezebox" during the connection selection step
6) Find and select the receiver in setup mode
6) Watch the receiver, notice it will get to yellow LED (requesting DHCP) and halt, the jive will be stuck at "connecting to XX" and eventual time out.

I don't see this. I've tried with SBC/SBR 2097/36 and 2679/36 and it worked both times.

BTW: Yellow on SBR means waiting for wireless connection (i.e. ad hoc to SBC) and not DHCP

Retested with SBC r2697 and SBR fw 36 and setup went through too without issues.

When you say, factory reset SBR, do you press and hold the button until it flashes red fast? If not, could you try that?
Comment 4 Felix Mueller 2008-07-17 09:25:50 UTC
Also, are you guys testing with production SBCs and SBRs? There was a ethernet jack issue on some pre manufacturing SBRs.

That's a great point.

I plan to test today as follows:

Try again with 7.1 on my system instead of James's

Try with old Jive FW and old Ray FW

Try with new Jive FW and old Ray FW

Try with new Jive FW and new Ray FW

I also see this issue with r2448 and fw 23. With SBR connected via Ethernet to a switch I factory reset both and follow instructions to connect connecting using Squeezebox. After about 1 minute it says Problem connecting, try again or skip this stem, try again no longer shows SBR as the light is now yellow.

Hey guys. This is making me nervous. It seems I am the only one where bridged setup works.

When (i.e. with what fw on SBC and SBR) did that work in MV the last time?

I've tried with new and old fw on both SBC and SBR and it worked every time.

I also tried other players which now support UDAP and it worked just fine there too.

Does anyone else (outside MV) also see that behavior? i.e. SBR stuck at yellow (=trying to connect to SBC via ad hoc wireless network) which seems very odd.

Thanks.

Felix needs some help reproducing this.
Comment 9 Chris Owens 2008-07-24 10:26:40 UTC
We have not been able to reproduce this anywhere but in our building in Mountain View.

We will continue to try to reproduce this for a future fix, because I expect some users at some point will have a network similar enough to ours for it to be a problem.
