Description Dan Evans 2008-07-09 13:46:41 UTC
When I play the attached file on a Boom and a SB3, I see completely different tagging information.

On the SB3 I see Japanese and Chinese characters where they should be.

On the Boom those characters are expressed in English/Roman characters.

Either there's tags embedded in this file that contain the translated text, or SC is translating the characters for display as English?

These characters are generated from a TTF file. It looks we'll have to add a definition for Boom's font names to Display::Lib::Fonts?
Comment 3 Chris Owens 2008-07-14 10:01:14 UTC
Michael says he'll give this a try.
Comment 4 Adrian Smith 2008-07-14 10:49:23 UTC
Michael - yes you need to create entries in the %font2TTF hash for the boom font names. We could alternatively strip off the _n from the front name, but I suspect you may want to tune the boom TTF fonts to be narrower, so its probably easiest just to create new entries and tune them.

Also create an entry in %font2uc.

change 21954 - add Boom support for fonts rendered from TTF file (double-byte characters). Using the same definitions as the normal fonts. To be tweaked if necessary.
Comment 7 Dan Evans 2008-07-25 14:40:06 UTC
What firmware will that work in, Michael? Or is that firmware independent?
Comment 8 Adrian Smith 2008-07-25 14:42:01 UTC
Its a server thing - just try a server later than the change here.
Comment 9 James Richardson 2008-07-25 15:29:20 UTC
Verified functioning properly with r19 & 7.2-22118
Comment 10 James Richardson 2008-07-25 15:37:19 UTC
I am reopening this bug after marking it as verified, as I notiecd that when I have Small display fonts selected, then only ENGLISH is shown on the display.

when I have medium or large fonts selected, then the proper kanji characters are shown.
Comment 11 James Richardson 2008-07-25 15:41:29 UTC
Boom only, SB2/3 and TP are fine. Jive lacks the font set so only shows boxes where the characters should be.
Comment 12 Adrian Smith 2008-07-26 03:48:17 UTC
typo - should be fixed by change 22131
