Bugzilla – Bug 8671
After losing connection to network and reacquiring it, data connection / player state has issues
Last modified: 2008-11-10 15:45:04 UTC
I'm running PQP3 Boom on fw 18. If you play a song then power cycle the router, the song plays for a bit while the display goes black. Then both server and Boom reacquire a connection to the network but first Boom goes through its update DSP business (see bug 8521) then it begins playing the same song from the beginning again. However I notice that the VU meter is no longer appearing. If I change the VU settings in SC, they do not apply. Turning Boom off and on fixes the issue.
Caleb should this be assigned to you or should I pass it to Felix or Michael or someone else?
I know nothing! about VU meter. Send to felix or sean.
Ross should probably test and see if this is still a problem.
This appears to be worse than Dan describes with firmware 19. I notice no DSP business, which is likely the issue, when boom reconnects to SC it shows the song that was playing as stopped, and does not play. Even if I click play, nothing happens. Also, it won't play other tracks, it must be rebooted to play anything at all.
FYI: The DSP business only happens if a DSP image is ready to be downloaded from SC. Sometimes SC includes a DSP image and sometimes not. AFAIK Caleb places a DSP image in SC if he developed a new one which has not yet been included in player firmware. Is that correct, Caleb? I do see the described behavior when using boom new-streaming SC, but not when using regular boom SC. When it happens the player is still reacting which shows that the control connection to SC is fine, it's the data connection which has issues or the inner state of the SC player state machine. Rebooting the player _or_ SC resolves the issue.
This one doesn't really belong to me. I don't know anything about how the VU meter works. Perhaps Sean?
19 was a long time ago. Does this still happen?
With firmware 33 none of this is reproducible. When the router comes back Boom picks up playing where it left off unless the buffer completely drained then it shows the status but doesn't play. This works exactly as it should.
