Description Marc Auslander 2008-07-07 15:47:05 UTC
I guess my problem is that I don't really want a screensaver - I want the controller, when playing, to drop into Now Playing mode/display automatically.

The current Now Playing screensave does not look exactly like Now Playing - it's missing the status bar.

But the recent fixes have (I'm told) made it behave like now playing, in that the center button will take you to the playlist, and home will take you home.

So - I'm suggestion that the status bar is goodness, and you ought to add it to the Now Playing screensave - or alternately just pop into Now Playing mode as the implementation of the Now Playing Screen Saver.

What if you turn off the SBC screensaver? I've never actually tried this, but it might give you the behavior you want...

Lets say you've just navigated into your music and started something playing. You're still in you're music - you need to press home TWICE to get to now playing. Which is what I do today - I run with the screensaver set to none.

Another anomaly of the current Now Playing Screen Saver:

If you press fwd-hold or rev-hold to bring up the song scanner, the screen saver reverts to the previous page - same as if you pressed back.

This is likely not what you want - you just want the scanner on top of the Now Playing screen saver.

Interestingly, volume works "correctly" - the volume bar pops up on top of the ScreenSaver.

Is this a separate bug?

rephrasing summary to reflect current state of bug. I'll take a look at this today, but if it's not an easy fix, this part might get bumped to 7.2.

Moving to the product SqueezePlay because this bug appears to apply to any player based on that application code. Feel free to move it back if it's specific to the single original product.

this may already be fixed with the work we've done in the fab4 branch with Now Playing. leaving open to confirm, but I don't think there's anything further to be done.

Verified that in 7.4 controller firmware this is no longer a problem.

We're handling NP a bit different in 7.4. While you can select NP as a "screensaver", under the hood it's not actually a screensaver now. That is, it's a window on the stack that does not exit automatically as does something like the Clock, Flickr, etc.

Tested Song Scanner with NP on screen, behavior is as desired below.
