Bugzilla – Bug 8630
Jive FW: Cannot upgrade or downgrade, not even with SD card.
Last modified: 2008-07-02 13:31:50 UTC
Jive FW: jive_7.1_r2649.bin Note: This was found by Auto Jive Smoke Tests System. Confirmed manually already. Note 2: This is similar to #8558, except much more serious. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Downgrade Jive to 7.1 r2447. 2. Put the jive_7.1_r2649.bin into the cache folder as custom.jive.bin. 3. Put the jive.version file there too. 4. Upgrade the Jive. Jive is upgraded to r2649. 5. Try downgrade back to r2447, or upgrade to itself again. 6. notice clicking the "Begin update" item invokes no reaction, except clicking sound. 7. SCP teh jive_7.1_r2447.bin into the SD card and try to upgrade from it. 8. Notice clicking "Update from SD card" invokes not action either, except the clicking sound.
Created attachment 3528 [details] Log file of downgrading from 2649 back to 2447.
Wallace- Ben said in an email responding to an email pleading for help with this bug: 2649 had a typo in Window.lua which would have caused this issue, and it was fixed in 2650. What you need to do is load the previous firmware (hold vol+ while booting), then load 2650 or greater. I'm re-running the 7.1 nightly right now, so a working build should be available soon. cheers, #!/ben Based on what Ben said, this user is marking this bug as fixed, so that it can be verified.
Downgraded the Jive unit back to 7.1, r2447 according to Ben's steps. The Auto Jive Smoke Tests System then picked up the jive_7.1_r2655.bin. This new build can indeed be upgraded to itself and downgraded back to r2447. Bug as written is no longer seen. Marking as "VERIFIED".
This is a great job by the developers. Fixing the bug so quickly after it is logged. Closing.
