Bugzilla – Bug 8607
Song restarts after Boom loses connection to server
Last modified: 2008-09-04 12:59:02 UTC
While testing this weekend with a PQP2 Boom, I saw some odd display behavior. Under certain conditions, my router frequently resets itself. Normally this should not pose a problem for our players, and mostly it didn't. But once while Boom was playing an album the router reset and both my SB3's and Boom's display went dark. The SB3 quickly recovered and came back on. Boom did not. The music continued to play on Boom but the display was black. I monitored this to see what was happening. Then Boom moved on to the next song, demonstrating that it must actually be connected to the server, but the display was still dark. I was connected to June 27th's build of SC 7.2. I also set the display brightness to be '5' for all three settings; I was not using the auto-brightness.
QA to come up with repro instructions.
Please retest with boom r20 or higher as I am unable to reproduce this. Either with a Server crash or Wireless Network crash. I do know that r20 fixed a bunch of the issues that were in r12 and r14 when dealing with unexpected server crashs
I am still seeing odd behavior when you force a Boom to lose connection to the server. I am unplugging the router while playing a song. Everything appears to work correctly. The display goes black, music continues playing. I plug the router back in and after 15 seconds or so, the Boom reconnects to the router and the server. However, about 15 seconds after that the song restarts from the beginning. Plus the timer does *not* reset, it continues to show the old time. Something screwy still.
This issue should have been fixed in SC 7.2 release and Firmware r32. Please retest with these versions, then reopen the bug if you still have issues.
