Description Johan Sombekke 2008-06-28 13:59:01 UTC
LS,

I'm sorry to post this in the bug section, but currently the Forum register function doesn't work properly. I tried to register but never received an email confirmation. Guess it has to do with forum being moved? So in fact we have a bug...

What I'd like to request is a 'grouping'-function for collection albums. What I think of is the possibility to group albums (which are al under 'various artists') in folders. All albums that share a certain keyword in the album tag are grouped in this folder. So for example we have 'Hitzone' albums (there are about 45 of them currently). The webGUI of squeezecenter (tab Music collection / Muziekcollectie) contains a field for 'group keywords' (; as separator). If an album name had multiple keywords in it, then the album will appear in multiple folders.

So for example the group keyword 'Hitzone'... gives as a result:

CURRENT

Artists >
  Various Artists >
     ...
     Hitzone 1
     Hitzone 2
     Hitzone 3
     ...
     Hitzone 45

NEW

Artists >
  Various Artists >
     ...
     Hitzone >
         Hitzone 1
         Hitzone 2
         Hitzone 3
         ...
         Hitzone 45
     ...

Kind regards,
Johan Sombekke

Please do not preset target field. leaving it as default flags the report for review. For future reference, feature requests are ok a bug reports, with the exception that you need to set the "severity" field to "enhancement".

There are currently a number of supported methods for grouping compilation albums. See http://wiki.slimdevices.com for information on tagging and compilation options.

Have you considered using the 'Genre' field for your custom uses?

Well, that might be a solution to find a group of albums quickly. Thanks! It doesn't solve the problem of scrolling through large lists of compilation albums. However, I can understand why this request won't be solved: there are other matters which will contribute more 'user experience' than this one.
