Bugzilla – Bug 8592
Display blank when server is off line (dead boom)
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:14:31 UTC
When the server that the boom connected to is off line (SC or SN) then the dispaly on the boom will go black. The boom should go to a CLOCK display & alarms should still function.
Clock and alarm not showing when loosing connection to SC/SN is fixed in fw rev 4474. (The alarm bell is flashing during an alarm.) Alarm sound still needs to be improved.
In yesterday's SVN of boom-new-streaming, I saw the clock when disconnected right after shutting down SC 7.2 when I was heading to bed. Nice. But this morning the Boom display was dark again, so I far this bug is not fixed. Also, a suggestion. At night I thought it was nice that the "disconnected" clock had all front panel buttons lit -- at night this clearly distinguished the "disconnected" clock from an offsaver Date and Time clock. But in the daytime I fear the front panel illumination will not be noticeable. I'd suggest that ":" between hour and minute flash when the disconnected clock shows. The flashing on the VFD would be a better clue that Boom had lost the connection to SC. Since the disconnected clock is all done in firmware, this blinking would not require any extra bandwidth (making Date and Time flash the colon with regular Squeezebox protocol connections would mean a lot of connections & CPU cycles on the SC side). I have not tested disconnected alarms.
Could you give some more details about what happened after you started SC again? Did Boom reconnect even though the display was dark? Thanks
I've just retested with latest SC and latest fw and this work for me. Please reopen if you still see this issue.
Verified functioning properly with r19 & 7.2-22118
