Bugzilla – Bug 8558
Jive: FW cannot be downgraded or upgraded.
Last modified: 2008-06-30 11:13:07 UTC
This bug started happening with jive_7.1_r2618.bin -- 2008/06/24 build. Steps to reproduce: 0. Make sure the Jive unit is at a version earlier than r2618. This user uses r2447. 1. Download jive_7.1_r2618.bin or jive_7.1_r2621. 2. Put the bin file into the cache folder for the SC and chang ethe name to custom.jive.bin. 3. Download the jive.version file into this folder also. 4. On the Jive unit, update the firmware. 5. After it updates successfully, confirm the version number on the Jive unit that it is the new one. 6. Use the same steps above to downgrade to r2447. 7. Notice Jive would say copying, then before the % sign shows, Jive would ask users to try again. 8. Try upgrade the Jive to the same FW it already has. 9. Notice it fails also. Work Around: Copy the jive_7.1_r2447.bin into the SD card as jive.bin and downgrade it from there.
Created attachment 3489 [details] messages log file from the Jive unit. For the people who receive the results emails fromt eh auto tests system, please check the messages.txt link.
I think this should be fixed now, Ben can you confirm.
The Auto Jive Smoke Tests System ran tests on jive_7.1_r2637.bin. The firmware can now update from r2447, downgrade back to r2447. This is clearly fixed. Great job. Please mark this as fixed so it can be marked as "VERIFIED" and "CLOSED".
doubly confirmed here-- I ran successfully through the SmokeTests with r2641.
The Auto Jive Smoke Tests System just ran the update tests on a different set of Jive and Ray. The update works fine there also. Definitely "VERIFIED".
Closing.
