Bugzilla – Bug 8430
"This may take a minute." maybe should come back
Last modified: 2009-01-23 20:39:51 UTC
The string displayed when a firmware update has completed downloading used to have "This may take a minute" in the message. We got feedback from the CX team that they were confused when the display was blank for so long during an update. There's no way to avoid this easily, but we should consider adding back some feedback about the fact that this might take a little while. Brian: Can you craft a better string?
Actually I used to like that string, I prefer conversational content. Is that too long for Boom though?
The string now is: Success: Download complete.\nRestarting now. It could be something like: "Installing update...\nThis may take a minute." Do you have something better, Brian? Felix: Can we scroll this text if it's too long?
That works for me... In English "This may take a minute" implies a short time, but not a literal minute. Is this the same in other languages? I have a native Spanish speaker here that says it works in Spanish, but I'm sure about others.
Could be the second line is not showing because the newline of the first line is cut off.
Any update on this?
Felix says the text is not in there now. cc'ing mickey to get the translation done.
Please tell me what the text for both lines in English should be, thanks. Success: Download complete. This may take a minute. or Installing update... This may take a minute. or ...
This one: Installing update... This may take a minute.
Fixed in rev 4629. Will be in fw 20.
