From GateX: It's irritating to have to wait for the screen saver to kick in to see if you like it.

complex solution.  One thing to jump to the SS mode from player UI, another to trigger from web/squeezeplay.  Also, many screensavers are through plugins and thus need authors to update when such changes are made.

see also bug 1560 as the possible solution could apply there as well.
