Out of box brightness is fine, but on FW update the brightness jumps to an illegibly dim level -- this is exacerbated by the restart which blacks the display. 

In addition to making the brightness more consistent, should add some form of notification that the screen will go blank for a moment to reduce the unexpected and visually jarring process of FW update.
