Description Don Russell 2008-06-09 19:48:08 UTC
Transporter code version 42 (from SC 7.1)

When setting up wireless network access with the remote control and Transporter, after selecting the SSID, I'm prompted to "Enter the WPA2 password".

I don't have a password, I have the actual 256 bit hex shared key. 64 hex digits long. Transporter accepts a maximum of 63 characters.

Please change that menu selection to behave like this:
After selecting the SSID, show:

"Enter WPA2 password (1 of 2)"
"Enter WPA2 shared key (2 of 2)"

Those options being available like the other option lists.

Option 1, that's what is already there... no change.

Option 2, allow enter a hexadecimal key. Do not create a key using the "pass phrase"... this value IS the key, in hex.

Why do I need this?
Wireless router Linksys WRT54G V2 uses a shared key, not a pass phrase.
All my wireless devices use this "shared key". (Including my SqueezeBox - I don't know how it's working properly, but I must have entered the proper key at one time.)

What lead to *this* enhancement request?
See discussion with Dean in the Beta forum: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48397

Thank you.
