Description Michael Newman 2008-06-06 05:53:18 UTC
Created attachment 3407 [details]
screen shot from MP3Tag of the file's attributes.

Files with a populated tag for 'composer' force the file to appear in listings for that person as 'artist.'

EG: Under an artist listing for 'Bob Dylan,' I will see Elvis Costello's recording of 'I Threw It All Away,' which was written by Dylan.

The brute solution would be for me to clear all 'composer' tags on all my files. I'd prefer that Squeezecenter be fixed.

Thanks.

did you check any of the composer related options in Settings/Music Library?

None of the options are checked to be included. Others are seeing the same behavior. I can provide a screenshot of the unchecked boxes if it would be helpful.

I have not been able to reproduce the behavior you describe without enabling the Composer in Artists option. Is it possible that this option is active but not showing up checked in the browser perhaps?

Perhaps turning on some debugging options and doing a clear library and rescan everything and then attaching the resulting log to this bug might reveal something.

Michael Herger, what do you think? Is this behavior determined during the scan or somewhere else in SqueezeCenter?

I'll do that and present the log file.

This is still under investigation, so won't be worked on until at least 7.2
Comment 6 KDF 2008-08-06 16:35:12 UTC
still awaiting a log for this, I suppose.
scan.scanner, formats.audio and database.info log options would be a good start.

Adding new_schema keyword for future discussion.
