Description Michael Herger 2008-06-04 15:49:18 UTC
There are some some podcasts which add some heavy noise at the beginning of the playback, eg.:

http://pod.drs.ch/input_mpx.xml

The same podcast does play fine in eg. iTunes

QA to verify, this also may be a dupe
Comment 2 James Richardson 2008-08-05 23:26:05 UTC
I can't get your link to work properly, can you retest this issue with 7.2 please.
Comment 3 Michael Herger 2008-08-05 23:40:52 UTC
There's no magic involved: just add that address to your podcasts and try playing it. Did you try this?
Comment 4 James Richardson 2008-08-06 11:54:50 UTC
Verified with SC 7.2
Comment 5 James Richardson 2008-08-08 15:37:12 UTC
Bumping to 7.3 With the latest firmware(s), this podcast no longer starts, yet the strange static sound is still heard.
Comment 6 Michael Herger 2008-09-08 05:57:21 UTC
Just an additional note: if you start these podcasts, they will "play" the noise, then there will be silence. But if you FFWD 5 seconds into the track, it will start playing. Ugly workaround.

Same behaviour with whatever the latest firmware (112?) is, and with FW32 on Boom.

any news on this bug? just the only podcasts we listen to and they don't work fine...
Comment 8 Andy Grundman 2008-09-30 12:11:29 UTC
Oh, this should be fixed already, see bug 9532. New firmware will be out in a day or so with this fix.
Comment 9 Schindler 2008-09-30 12:18:42 UTC
sorry don't have access to bug 9532. will this also be in 7.2.1 or only in 7.3 software?
Comment 10 Andy Grundman 2008-09-30 12:19:58 UTC
