Description Chris Owens 2008-06-04 15:43:09 UTC
For instance, 96KHz flac files should be downsampled properly into a supported-rate flac stream.

Any chance of an option for on-the-fly re-sampling capability in the Apple Lossless to FLAC transcoder? Especially now that I have 192kHz stereo files ripped from my DVD-Audios using DVD-A Explorer — this sample rate is beyond the capability of my Transporter let alone my Duet Receiver (not to mention my ears). Itunes can play them but SqueezeCenter can't.

That's interesting actually. There's another bug where Apple 48KHz files are getting resampled to 44.1KHz even though our players are capable of playing 48Khz. I guess the transcoder must have an upper limit of what it will bother resampling.

In any case, yes that functionality is currently planned for 7.3 (the 'Target Milestone' field, above) which does not have a fixed release date yet, but I would guess will ship late in 2008.

It might be worth asking on the forums to see if anyone has a workaround for this. Some interesting hacks have been performed using the transcoding framework in the past.

Change 23839
Currently there is no (default) flac->flac transcoder in config that will do downsampling, so flac will get transcoded to MP3 if lame is available.

This bug has been fixed in the 7.3.0 release version of SqueezeCenter!

Please download the new version from http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html if you haven't already.

If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.

I just tested with Linn records 88,2*24 flac files. (Arthur Pizarro, Complete Works of Ravel Vol.1) None of these files seem to play on SC 7.4 Build 24302, SB3 F/W 120. Playing is not started no sould audible.

Is it possible to resample using Flac? If so, can you supply an appropriate convert.conf entry to do this without ending up with Mp3. Who wants to start out with a hi-res format and convert to Mp3 unless it's the only option that allows the file to be played?

JJ, no. The flac program will not downsample. See bug 9997.

Do you have lame installed? What error do you see in the logfile?

Reduce number of active targets for SC
