Bugzilla – Bug 8228
Controller crashes with software update to 7.0.1
Last modified: 2008-06-02 10:40:03 UTC
I downloaded 7.0.1 and sucecssfully updated both the SqueezeCentre and the Receiver. I turned on the controller and it prompted me to update the software. I did this and it counted up to 100%. It then continued to say "Copying Software" for several hours and never actually completes. It is possible to stop this by holding the power button down, which turns the controller off. If you do this and turn it on again, it prompts for the software update again and the same thing happens. I've now tried this 5 or 6 times, with the same result - I cannot use the controller. Many thanks & regards Bill Scott
I have now done a factory reset, after finding a similar (but not identical) bug. I get as far as connecting to my Wireless LAN before hitting another problem. The controller prompts me to "Set up SqueezeBox". I choose Ethernet (as it is wired) and the controller says it can't find the player. I press the button on the receiver, as instructed by the controller, and it flashes red. The Squeezebox appears on the controller screen. So far so good, however, when I select the SqueezeBox the controller fails to connect to it and says "Problem Connecting". The message at the bottom says it was looking for it on the wireless network, though I don't see why that should make a difference. (Lost SqueezeBox). Before I did the factory reset, I could at least access the squeezebox from a PC or PDA. Now I can't use it at all. Help! Many thanks & regards Bill
I've now managed to get back to the same situation I was in before: I can use the Squeezebox receiver from a PC browser. The controller hangs at 100% during the software update. Regards Bill
