Description Richard Titmuss 2008-05-22 12:09:57 UTC
The default crossfade duration for a player is 0, so when crossfade is configured for the first time it has no effect. This is especially a problem on the Controller where you cannot modify the crossfade duration, but it is also not obvious why crossfade does not work when enabling it in the web ui.

I'd suggest setting the crossfade to 10 seconds when crossfade/fade-in/fade-out are enabled, and the duration is 0. The crossfade feature will at least then appear to be working, and power users can tweak the duration in the web ui.

Agreed, default of 0 makes no sense.
Comment 2 Andy Grundman 2008-06-12 08:00:02 UTC
Fixed in 7.1 change 20678. Won't affect existing users but will be set to 10 for new players.

I would think a default of 5 would make more sense since 10 is the maximum. This would allow the user to set it higher or lower then default. This would be just like we set the default volume to 50 on a 0 to 100 scale.
Comment 4 Andy Grundman 2008-06-12 10:23:51 UTC
I think 10 is the right default, it gives the most obvious crossfade result.
Comment 5 Richard Titmuss 2008-06-12 10:26:32 UTC
I agree, it should be 10.
