I notice that if I've put an album in my library and I'm playing it, the Track Info menu gives me the option to add it to my library (again).   Adding it confirms it was added (but fortunately it's not listed twice!).   Seems we should have the option to remove it instead, or at least suppress it.

by contrast, the "album info" that you get from the Library does in fact include a "remove" option.

Not an easy one to fix, track info has no knowledge about what's in your library and we do not try to cache a full list of what's in your library to figure this sort of thing out.
