Description Doug Anderson 2008-05-10 14:31:52 UTC
The initial scan of the music directories (which are located on a network share) only discovered tracks that had been added since SqueezeCenter 7.0 had done an initial scan of that directory tree. When upgrading from SqueezeCenter 7.0 to 7.1, SqueezeCenter 7.0 was uninstalled and then SqueezeCenter 7.1 was installed cleanly. Attempting to run a Clear Library and Rescan Everything produces the same results. When selecting "View Previous Scan Details" the Music Scan Details portion of the page says "Progress information from the previous scan is not available."

dropping severity as this is most likely a setup issue. As this is an unsupported version of SS (beta), you may want to tackle this in the forum.

First step, set scanner.scan to debug in server settings->logging and check the log. Scanner is likely bailing out on a specific file.

Log from reinstallation of SqueezeCenter 7.1

No scan log is generated because there seems to be a communication error that prevents any scan from being initiated. All files to be scanned are on a single network share and SqueezeCenter is running on port 9100, but from my untrained view of the log it looks like there are other problems as well.

Response to forum post suggests that this is the same as bug 8098, and is endemic to all recent builds.

The workaround suggested by czhang for bug 8098 seems to work for my problems, so this may well be that same issue as that bug. That workaround is: "browse your entire music library by folder and add ALL your songs to the playlist - this will force it to scan your library."

I suspet that my earlier hypothesis that this was related to new items since a scan with SqueezeCenter 7.0 is false. New theory is that the 15 tracks I had in the library were tracks that I had played by browsing by folder.
