Bugzilla – Bug 81
collapse and sort by album

From: Brook Johnson Date: Thu May 1, 2003 11:57:49 AM US/Pacific Subject: Re: managing albums My biggest complaint with iTunes is the lack of condensing playlists to albums. When I used SoundJam a few years ago, playlists listed albums with triangles to expand them if needed. In the slimp3 software, if you are browsing for music, you can add an album or open the album and add songs. What I would like is this exact same format in the playlists. Right now a playlist is a just a list of songs, but I would prefer a list of albums that could then be expanded if necessary. I would think the code used to display the "playlists/albums/songs" frame could be used in the "current playlist" frame too. Not only would it be easier to remove or reorder whole albums at a time in the current playlist, but my 800 song playlists could be listed on one page of 80 albums instead of 8 pages of 100 songs. I have been waiting for iTunes to do this for a few years, but if you would do it, I could almost dump iTunes. As for the rescan speed, I am using the latest software. It may have to do with my 300 mhz G3 and 30 Gb of music, but duplicating the current list of files and using it until the rescan is complete would cure any lag. Thanks for your response. I love my slimp3 since I set it up last week. Brook
